Platinum vs. Palladium Wedding Bands

There is a “new” metal that is quickly becoming a favorite white metal for wedding bands, palladium.  Palladium rings are a great value when compared to platinum.  They will wear the same as a platinum ring but they are just a fraction of the cost.  The look is the same as well.  Really the only difference is they are lighter, which most people would consider to be a positive rather than a negative.  There are many sites that sell men’s and women’s palladium rings.  I found this one and I was struck by all the different styles available in palladium.  They have thick bands and they also have thin bands so no matter if you are looking for a bold or a femine look you are sure to find it.

They also have their rings with milgrain.  This is a great look and unlike tungsten rings that can’t have milgrain added they can be added to any palladium ring.  The color is a pure white because most palladium jewelry is PD950.  This means that 95 percent of the ring is made of palladium and only 5 percent is made of other non precious metals.  So you are getting almost a pure palladium ring.  Recently there is a alternative metal that has hit the market called cobalt chrome wedding bands.  These rings look a lot like palladium.  The big difference is they are made using the metal cobalt.  This is considered a bad word when used in tungsten rings but not in cobalt chrome.  It make the chrome very white and shiny.  Kind of like the wheels on a really nice car.  You know the ones where you can see your reflection in them.  Almost like a mirror.  Palladium rings can also come in a mirror finish.
